Threads Insights: What You Can (And Can’t) Track in 2026

Written by Freya Laskowski | May 24, 2026 11:30:00 PM

Threads is the fastest way to build an authentic brand presence, but once you start posting, the inevitable question is: how do I measure success? Threads insights are the next key to success

Threads has over 400 million users and offers unparalleled organic reach (Sendible grew its own Threads views by a staggering 30,000% in 3 months); its native analytics are still evolving.

Sendible's trend insights for 2026's #1 prediction is that Threads will become one of the most popular social media apps. In 2025, we saw a 300% increase in engagement and posting volume from the start to the end of last year.

In this article, we make sense of Threads' native analytics for 2026, breaking down exactly what you can and can't track so you can accurately measure your ROI and optimise your content pillar strategy.

TL;DR: Making use of Threads Insights

  • Threads offers native insights covering views, interactions, follower growth, and (since July 2025) audience demographics, including age, gender, and location.
  • Link click tracking supports up to 5 bio links and post links.
  • A 100-follower threshold applies to personal accounts before demographic data unlocks; business accounts can unlock insights straight away.
  • Key metrics to track: views by source, engagement (likes/replies/reposts/quotes), follower growth, and click-throughs.
  • Native insights are still somewhat limited — third-party tools like Sendible and Google Analytics can fill the gaps.

What is included in native Threads insights?

Threads currently has some insights and analysis, although it isn't as extensive as other platforms (yet).

According to Instagram's help center, the insights available to users include total views of your content, interactions, and followers.

You can see your interactions by clicking on your post and viewing who has reacted, reposted, and responded.

This is in addition to your insights page, located at the top right of your profile.

On the insights page, you can see your total views over the past 90 days, general interactions, followers, and top posts by views and likes.

Threads link click tracking

Since May 2025, Threads has allowed the tracking of clicks on links, including those in the user bio.

  • Up to 5 links in the user bio can be tracked
  • Links in posts can also be tracked
  • Link click tracking allows creators and brands to measure website traffic from Threads.

Threads audience demographics

Since July 2025, the Threads insights dashboard has also provided detailed audience demographics, including:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Location (countries, regions, and specific cities)

All of this allows users (particularly businesses, brands, creators, and social media managers) to gain a clearer view of their audience.

100 follower Threads Insights restriction

Because of the above demographic insights, there is a 100-follower threshold to meet before you can begin to see insights. This is for personal accounts.

However, for business accounts, that threshold does not apply.

This is specifically tied to the new audience demographic insights, as they contain sensitive follower information, such as age, location, and gender.

Mobile vs. desktop Threads insights

The Threads web/desktop dashboard often provides a broader view of insights even before the 100-follower threshold is reached.

Personal accounts can often see views or interactions even before the audience demographics section is fully unlocked.

The Threads account itself also posts updates about its analytics features, so it is always great to follow to keep up with new features.

Something else worth keeping in mind is that when using a social media tool like Sendible, you can gain broader insights over a longer period, since these tools store data longer than the native platform (in this case, Meta) does.

The Threads insights section will also give you more analytics and reporting data, which Sendible then uses to provide additional insights, such as engagement rate.

Threads insights vs Instagram analytics

Although Threads and Instagram are connected, you can see more Instagram analytics than Threads analytics right now (as of May 2026).

You can find the Instagram insights in your dashboard.

  • You can find a split between your follower vs non-follower data, as well as specific insights into your reach and views in the Instagram insights dashboard.
  • Insights include profile visits, which remain a great middle-of-the-funnel metric for brands.
  • Another often-cited and used insight is the best-performing content, which can be found in the insights dashboard.
  • Much like Threads, Instagram Insights also offers tracking web clicks.
  • You can also view more detailed interactions, including the overall number and percentage by content type (Reels, Stories, and Posts).

In 2026, "sends per reach" is considered the go-to metric for savvy social media managers.

What does 'sends per reach' mean on Threads?

Sends per reach is a ratio that measures how many times a post was shared via direct message (DM), related to the number of people who viewed that post.

So, Sends Per Reach = Number of DMs sent / Total Reach

Instagram also provides free tools to boost your engagement and views with Best Practices and Trending audio.

Core Threads insights metrics to track

What metrics should you pay attention to on Threads as a business owner or marketer?

In an ocean of insights, knowing what to track can help ensure you focus your social media strategy on the right content tactics.

Source of your account's views

To find out where people saw your Threads posts, tap “Views.” You’ll see a chart showing Threads views over time, and a list of sources:

  • Home
  • Profile
  • Search
  • Activity tab
  • Instagram
  • Facebook.

Threads Interactions: Likes, replies, reposts, and quotes

Engagement (or ‘Interactions’ in your Threads dashboard) encompasses activities such as likes, replies, reposts, and quotes.

How often do people reply to your posts?

Are they sharing them as quotes?

The more users engage with a post, the more likely the algorithm is to surface it, allowing your brand to gain visibility.

However, the downside to using engagement as a metric on Threads is that engagement is calculated at the account level (similar to Facebook pages, but without the ability to narrow analytics to a specific post).

So, if you set engagement analytics to show your engagement over the ‘last 7 days’, it will show all activity from those 7 days.

This would include engagement on posts you might have posted months prior, but that were interacted with in the past seven days.

While this might look good on paper when creating reports for clients, you cannot easily narrow your tracking to specific dates for reports where you want greater accuracy (for example, a weekly or monthly report).

Follower growth from Threads activity

Follower growth is another metric to keep your eyes on.

Engagement is significant, but it should translate to clicks or follows (or, in the best-case scenario, both). You can track:

  • How many followers are you gaining from your posts a week?
  • How many followers are you gaining from your posts in a month?

You can see up to 90 days. That should be useful for tracking the impact of social media marketing on Threads over a rolling 3-month period.

Click-throughs (when using links or bio CTAs) from Threads

Click-through rates (CTRs) are probably the most critical metric to focus on.

Right now, tracking CTRs is limited in Threads, but you can use a third-party analytics platform to analyse the numbers.

Views on Threads

Views on Threads matters more now than ever. Threads is more organic than other platforms. AI slop doesn’t work here. Neither should you expect to find the sort of behavior typical on X (formerly Twitter), which makes it the perfect replacement for that platform.

At Sendible, we were all set to bet that TikTok would lead in views, but it turned out to be Threads.

Alternative methods to track Threads insights

As we've established, Threads' insights are pretty limited. This doesn't mean you have to stick your head in the sand and give up. There are other options.

Social media scheduling, creation, and analytics tools like Sendible

More than half of all marketers still use third-party tools. But what other options are there?

Google Analytics is a popular tool for brands to track their performance. It still doesn't show everything, though.

For marketers with time and a good eye, manual tracking with spreadsheets is an option, although it is time-consuming. You can plug in the numbers and compare them weekly or monthly.

UTM codes

What about UTM codes? These sneaky little links are very useful for comparing analytics and data, especially if you use multiple social media websites to promote your brand.

How do you know where someone came from when they click on your link, and you're reviewing your website's views?

UTM snippets/codes at the end of a link tell analytics websites how to sort your code with parameters like source, medium, and campaign. Although code may seem intimidating, there are numerous free code generators available online.

Content pillars testing

Not all data needs to be number-related, such as views. It's also essential that your brand's message stands strong and consistent.

This is a bit more challenging to track, but it can be done with content pillars.

Content pillars are categories you can use to categorise the content you create for your brand. Some popular categories include interactive, promotional, and educational.

Once you have your pillars and content organised, the testing begins. Compare data like views, interactions, and conversions. Which pillar/category sees more bio-link clicks or sales?

Why Threads insights matter for brands

Just because Threads insights aren't very detailed doesn't mean they aren't important. The little bit of data given to you is important.

When comparing your top posts to the ones that don't rank as high, you can figure out why. Is there a CTA missing? Is the post long or short?

Reviewing Threads insights can also help you strengthen your brand's overall tone and vision. Threads insights may also help your brand achieve its overall goals by increasing engagement.

If your goal is to boost brand awareness within your sales funnel, you need to examine your posts' engagement and analyse which posts are performing best with your audience.

Are people commenting and clicking your link? What posts have higher conversion rates?

With your engagement and conversation rates, you can plan future content. It's easier to go viral and grow when you use what's already working for your brand.

What brands should focus on until full analytics roll out

Threads is working to provide better, more detailed insights and analysis, but it's unclear when this will be available. In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to continue growing your brand on Threads.

The first thing you can do is test different types of posts by analysing views and engagement. Try out different formats like text posts, videos, photos, polls, and quote threads.

Qualitative data is just as important as quantitative data. Read through your replies. What are your viewers and followers saying? Are they vocal about their dislikes or likes on specific posts?

Other than reviewing your replies, staying consistent is enough. Posting frequently can increase your chances of going viral and finding your target audience. It's easier to reach 100 people with 10 posts vs just one.

Creating a schedule for yourself can make this easier. Sendible, a social media management platform, aids in bulk posting and content creation. This is perfect if you're looking to stay consistent and post frequently.

Sendible supports multiple social media sites, not just Threads, so you can manage your social media strategy across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn from the same dashboard.

This does not mean copying and pasting the same content across all your social platforms. You know your audiences best, and they differ depending on where you interact with them. However, you could use Sendible’s AI Assist feature to tailor Threads content for another platform, ensuring the right tone and message.

Keeping track of changes with Threads insights

Threads insights are still constantly changing, so following their own page on Threads is a good way to stay updated.

The team often posts information about new features as soon as they are rolled out, along with helpful screenshots that show followers what to look for when trying out a feature themselves.
